Desi Calendar
Desi Calendar Desi Calendar is an application software download free Android, which shows all the Indian festivals in a calendar format. It was launched in Feb 2011 and has been ranked number 1 on the Indian app store. The app is based on the panchang, which is the Hindu Calendar. It has all the information about the Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana and Var for each day of the year. A lunisolar calendar, the Hindu calendar has many regional variants. It is a complex time-keeping system, as it includes astronomically defined time spans that incorporate solar days, lunar months, solar years, stellar constellations, and more. It is a vastly more complex system than the Gregorian calendar of most Western nations, which uses only solar days and years. Unlike the Gregorian calendar, the Hindu calendar also reflects the movement of the Moon in relation to the Sun and stars, which can result in significant differences among different regions. In the traditional Indian lunisolar calendar, the twelve divisions of the zodiac are divided into solar months (rasi) that are named after the rasi. During a rasi, the Sun transits into one of the twelve signs of the zodiac. The earliest version of the Indian calendar began with the Saka era, which corresponded to C.E. 79, and the reformed calendar started with Saka Samvat 2080, which corresponded to C.E. 1957. During this period, the Indian astrological system underwent reform. New astronomical constants and models were introduced, and the calendar was updated to reflect this.
